What is a rainforest?

A rainforest is a natural environment that is very wet and can be humid.
There are two different types of rainforest, they are tropical and temperate. Tropical rainforest are usually around the equator where as the temperate rainforests are manly found around costal areas.
In a rainforest there are four layers they are in order the Emergent Layer, Canopy Layer, Understory Layer and the Forest Floor.
Scientist believe that some trees in the rainforest have lived up to 350 million years.
